User registration - Help

This page provides help on the fields used for user registration. For help on an individual item on the form, simply click on the link from the descriptive text or scroll down this window until you have found the relevant section.

Personal webpage

If you have a personal webpage giving your contact details, research interests etc. then you may enter it here. You may enter the url with or without the 'http://' prefix.

Supervisor's name

If you have an academic supervisor then please give their full name. This is a required field for PhD students.

Department

If you belong to an institution then this field can be used to indicate the section to which you belong. If you are at university then this will probably be the name of your department or group. This field can be omitted if it does not have any meaning for you.

Is department involved in NERC funded research?

If your department does any work funded by NERC (even if your own project is not funded by NERC) then please tick the box.

Participate in collaboration initiatives?

The BADC invites you to be part of our ongoing programme to encourage collaboration between scientists interested in atmospheric data. This currently consists of our Who's who system. This is a searchable directory of scientists working on atmospheric data. Registered users will be able to find others with similar research interests. This is intended to assist you by putting you in touch with other scientists with whom you can share knowledge and experience. The BADC may also develop other collaborative projects in the future.

In order to be a part of Who's who and any future collaborative projects, we need your permission to be able to disclose limited details to other registered BADC users. The normal BADC policy is that your details are not disclosed to anyone except the Principal Investigators of any datasets that you register for. The details will include your name, e-mail address, institute details (if appropriate), research descriptions and dataset details. We will not disclose your address, telephone or fax number. We will not disclose your details to anonymous users, nor put them on any web page that is not password protected. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

If you agree that your details may be disclosed for the purposes of scientific collaboration then please tick the box and we will enter you in our Who's who system.
