ssh to login.badc.rl.ac.uk

Below is a java ssh client which allows you to connect to login.badc.rl.ac.uk. (See here for information on alternative ssh clients.)

Access is for authorised shell account holders only; please note that most BADC users do not have a shell account.

Security aspects are exactly as with a "normal" ssh client: the connections are encrypted against snooping by intermediate machines on the network, but you should remember that if any malicious software is running directly on the local machine on which you are running the web browser, then your password and session data may be vulnerable.

Note that the client is a third-party application which is free for non-commercial use only. This page is intended for connection to login.badc.rl.ac.uk, to which it will default. Although it is possible for you to change the hostname, you should not use it to connect to commercial sites. (But you will probably need to change the username.)

Note that this is not a "gateway" as such. All ssh connections are made directly from your browser, not via the web server. It will not work if your local machine is prevented by a firewall from making ssh connections.
