BADC Mandatory Metadata
Whenever relevant, the following metadata must be provided with any dataset submitted to BADC.
- Project
- Title (and, if existing, acronym).
- Funding agency or agencies.
- Brief description.
- Name(s) of data provider(s) to be acknowledged in citations.
- Contact: name, institution, address, telephone, e-mail. (For BADC use).
- For each subset of the dataset:
- Tools
- Platforms: nature and name.
- Measuring instruments: type, brand, name, acronym, technique, measured variable.
- Models: type, method, name, acronym, principal author(s), characterisation of
experiment.
- Data processing algorithms: name, method, principal author(s), nature of input and
output.
- Variables (independent and dependent)
- CF standard names.
If some variables do not have a CF standard name, please signal them.
- Units (if dimensionless, please say so).
- For the independent variables: coverage (i.e. origin and span) and resolution.
- Space-time information
- Location of any fix observation station or simulated site (name, country,
longitude, latitude, altitude or height above ground level – the last three
with appropriate units).
- Year(s) in which the dataset was produced.
- Version
- Version number.
- Version date.
- Difference with previous version.
