BADC Trajectory Service - Winds
The BADC trajectory model derives the parcel paths from a set of
analysed winds. These winds are held online at the BADC. The winds
available to you depend on the data sets you have access to at the BADC.
The table lists the available wind types currently supported by the trajectory service. More details on the data can be
found on the data set web pages.
| Source | Resolution | Vertical coordinate | Start date | End date | Comment |
| ECMWF archive | 2.5x2.5 | pressure | 1979-01-01:00 | 10 days before today | uses both ERA-15 and Operational data |
| ECMWF 1.125 op archive | 1.125x1.125 | model levels | 2000-01-01:00 | 10 days before today |   |
| ERA-40 archive | 2.5x2.5 | pressure | 1958-01-01:00 | 2001-12-31:18 |   |
| ECMWF forecast data |   |   |   |   | available on request |
| Unified Model Global | 3.5x2.75 | pressure | 2000-10-30:00 | 2003-07-10:18 | incomplete data set |
The default wind source the BADC trajectory model uses is ECMWF archive..
Generally data on model levels will give more representative
trajectories than data that has been interpolated onto pressure levels.
