Update to MIDAS Station Latitudes and Longitudes

Following an announcement from the Met Office that changes have been made to their algorithm to convert OS and Irish grid references to high precision latitude and longitudes for MIDAS station locations updates MIDAS station metadata have been produced.

The BADC have obtained a copy of these new metadata files and have updated our holdings accordingly. We have also updated the database supporting the MIDAS station search facilities and the associated Google Earth files.

As these differences can be upto 770m (for the Scilly: St Mary's station) users are advised to update station metadata for all UK and Irish stations.

Metadata files can be downloaded from the metadata folder of the MIDAS dataset archive, while new Google Earth files are available from the MIDAS station search facility of the BADC website.
